Columbia County divides contractor into three categories, each with their own surety bond amount:

  •  Commercial contractors are required to obtain a $20,000 surety bond;
  • Residential contractors are required to obtain a $15,000 surety bond;
  •  Specialty contractors must obtain a $5,000 surety bond.



Premium Required of the Contractor Bond:




Typically, the premium required for this bond will be determined by a standard surety bond application and a credit score.

As a very broad general rule, the premium for this surety bond may cost you as little as:

  • $100 annually for the commercial contractor bond;
  • $150 annually for the residential contractor bond (even though it is smaller bond, the difference in pricing may be for the calculated risk involved);
  • $100 annually for the specialty contractor bond.

However, the price you will be required to pay will be determined by an application and a credit check, in all likelihood.




Columbia County Contractor Bond: Its Purpose
