How to get your Contractor license in New Mexico

Applicants for a New Mexico contractor license will need to:

  • take the pre-licensing course;
  • pass a qualifying examination;
  • once the exam has been passed, submit an application along along with all other requirements
  • obtain a New Mexico contractor bond for $10,000.

New Mexico Contractor Bond: What is it?

The New Mexico contractor bond is a financial guarantee that contractors in the state will abide by all rules and procedures in their related duties.

The bond protects others from acts of negligence, malfeasance, and fraud should a contractor fail to perform work as mandated by both federal and state law.

The bond is therefore not a type liability insurance policy for the contractor.

Duration of the New Mexico Contractor Bond

The $10,000 New Mexico contractor bond is issued for a period of one year.

The bond must be renewed annually in order to keep the contractor license in good standing.

The bond should be purchased to have an expiration date concurrent with the contractor license.

Cost of the New Mexico Contractor Bond

Though the surety bond has a face value of $10,000, applicants for the bond will pay nowhere near that amount.

The bond can be purchased for as little as $100!

Your bond premium amount will be determined by a credit check; however, we add that AmeriPro Surety Bonds will always work to provide the best pricing.

Buy Your New Mexico Contractor Bond: It’s Easy

Purchasing a New Mexico contractor bond is both easy and quick.

Once you call us at AmeriPro Surety Bonds, we will take the surety application from you over the phone.

Once the premium price is determined, in most cases the bond can be issued to you immediately, and mailed to you the same day.
