HVAC Licensing – Alabama
The Alabama Board of Heating, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Contractors requires all licensees to obtain a $15,000 surety bond as a condition of licensing.
Although there are other parts of the licensing process — an exam, for one — obtaining the surety bond throughout our agency will be the quickest part of your licensing process.
Qualifying and the Premium
There is no credit check nor underwriting review for the Alabama HVAC contractor surety bond.
What this means for you is that after completion of a surety bond application (which can be taken over the phone with an agent), and payment of the premium – $100 – this $15,000 surety bond is issued to you immediately.
A copy of the bond can be emailed to you, and the original surety bond, which you will need to sign as Principal, will be sent by the following business day at the latest.
Additional Premium Payment Options
At $100 premium, the HVAC contractor license bond is issued for a period of one year.
Our agency also provides you with the option to prepay the premium for your bond for 2 or 3 years.
Prepayment of the premium allows for a greater interval between renewal premium. Prepayment of the premium also allows you to save over year to year renewal of the bond premium.
The premium prepayment options are as follows:
- 2 years for $180, a $20 savings;
- 3 years for $260, a $40 savings.
Purpose of this Bond
Your surety bond serves as a financial guarantee that you will be in compliance with all rules and regulations governing HVAC contracting in Alabama.
The bond also guarantees that you will be pay the Board for any fees incurred via lawsuits due to your failure to perform work up to contracting standards. As principal for this surety bond you are responsible for all fees paid against your bond.
