Sewer and Drain Cleaner Licensing, New Castle County Delaware

The New Castle County Department of Land Use requires sewers and drain cleaners to obtain a $10,000 surety bond as one of the conditions of licensing.

The bond form used shares that of other contracting entities, including Classes, A, B, C, U, and HVACR contractors.

The bond term ends on December 31^st and begins on January 1^st. Because of the bond’s very small premium, just $100, it is not prorated for less than $100, regardless of when during the year it is purchased.

Qualifying and the Premium

You are automatically approved for the $10,000 New Castle County sewer and drain cleaner bond. There is no credit inquiry. Again, the premium is just $100 annually.

When you call us, we’ll ask you the name exactly as it should appear on your bond. We’ll also ask you other basic questions: your address, phone number and email.

After payment of the $100 premium, your bond is issued to you immediately. In the mail, you’ll receive two items which you’ll need to file with New Castle County.

The first is the bond form, which you’ll sign as Principal. The second is the Power of Attorney form.

Premium Prepayment Options

You may prepay your premium up to 3 years through our agency. Prepayment of your premium allows you a savings over annual renewals. Regardless of the term chosen, the expiration and renewal dates are December 31^st and January 1^st, respectively.

• If prepaid for 2 years, the premium is $180, a $20 savings;
• If prepaid for 3 years, the premium is $260, a $40 savings.
