Hawaii charitable organizations which are specifically designated as professional fundraisers must be licensed and registered with the Department of the Attorney General, Tax & Charities Division.
The bond can also be referred to as a professional fundraising counsel bond, or Hawaii professional solicitor bond.
A condition of licensing is that you furnish the Division with evidence of filing a $25,000 surety bond. Meeting the surety bond requirement will be the quickest part of your licensing process.
You are automatically approved for the $25,000 Hawaii professional fundraiser bond. After a simple application, which we can take from you over the phone, and payment of the premium, this bond is issued to you immediately. The annual premium is $375.
In additions to the basics: The name and address of your charitable institution, we’ll also ask you whether you are an association, partnership, corporation, or just an individual.
We’ll also ask your name and title as these will be on your surety bond.
Once the $375 premium is paid, we’ll issue the bond to you immediately. We’ll mail the original, but a copy of the bond can also be sent to you by email. You may be able to file your surety bond online through the state’s portal.
At $375 premium, your $25,000 professional fundraiser bond is issued for a standard one year period. Thereafter, your surety bond renews.
You also have the option to prepay your bond for up to 3 years, which will save you over renewing annually.
The premium prepayment options and savings are as follows:
