Professional solicitors in Kentucky are licensed and regulated by the state office of the Attorney General. A prerequisite for licensing is that solicitors submit evidence of a $25,000 surety bond.
This surety bond will expire on December 31st of the year in which it is purchased; or, if you prepay the surety bond for 2 or 3 years, the expiry date will be December 31st of that ending year. You will be required to renew by January 1st.
Obtaining the solicitor surety bond is an easy process, taking only a few minutes of your time.
You are pre-approved for the Kentucky professional solicitor bond because there is no credit check nor review by an underwriter. What this means for you is that after the completion of an application and payment of the premium, the surety solicitor bond is issued to you immediately. It is an “instant issue” surety bond.
For a full year, the premium is $250; however, depending on when during the calendar year the bond is purchased, the premium will be prorated accordingly.
Once the bond is purchased, a copy can be emailed to you. The original surety bond, which you will sign as Principal, will be mailed to you by the following business day.
Assuming the purchase of the Kentucky solicitor bond that is not prorated, you are also given the option to prepay this bond for 2 or 3 years.
Prepayment of your surety bond allows for greater intervals between renewal periods. You also save money over renewing each year.
The premium prepayment options are as follows:
The purpose of this surety bond is to allow those who have claims against a solicitor who acts unlawfully or negligently, to file according to the state’s Charitable Solicitations Act.
