Once issued, a copy of the bond can be emailed to you; however, typically, it is the original surety bond which you will need to file with the city. This original surety bond will be mailed to you by the following business day at the latest.

You will want to sign your surety bond before filing with the city.

Bond Duration; Additional Premium Payment Options

While the bond is issued with a standard term that ends on December 31st of the current year, you may also prepay the Lake Charles contractor bond for 2 or 3 years.

Prepayment of the premium allows you a greater interval between renewals and a savings as well.

Regardless of the term of your bond, the expiration date will always be December 31st. The prepayment options are as follows:

  • If prepaid for 2 years, the premium is $180, a $20 savings;
  • If prepaid for 3 years, the premium is $260, a $40 savings.

Purpose of Your Surety Bond Requirement

Whether you are a plumber, mechanical contractor, electrician or involved in building construction (note that that these are not necessarily the only specialties requiring bonding), the purpose of this city surety bond is that you will be in compliance with all relevant codes and ordinances involved in your professional duties.
