New Hampshire Real Estate Broker License

One of the prerequisites for licensing as a New Hampshire real estate broker is that you furnish evidence of a $25,000 surety bond.

The surety bond is required of both Principal Brokers and Managing Brokers.

Since the legislation states that you are required to furnish a surety bond of not less than $25,000, you may be required to furnish a greater amount.

Qualifying and the Premium

You are automatically approved for the $25,000 New Hampshire real estate broker bond. There is no credit check nor a review by an underwriter. This is true for this bond up to a $50,000 surety bond amount.

Instead, when you call us, we’ll just ask the basics: The name that should appear on your surety bond and contact information.

After payment of the premium of just $125, our agency issues this bond to you immediately.

Once issued, the surety bond, along with the Power of Attorney (POA) form are mailed to you by the next business day.

You’ll sign your bond as Principal upon receipt, filing it along with the POA to:

New Hampshire Real Estate Commission

64 South Street

Concord, NH 03301

Additional contact information for the Commission are the following: nhbd@banking.state.nh.us

800-467-5991

Premium Prepayment Options

The $125 premium associated with the New Hampshire real estate broker bond is for one year. The surety bond will renew on the anniversary of its issuance.

Our agency also offers you the option to prepay your surety bond up to 3 years.

Prepayment of the premium does two things: One, it lengthens the time between renews; and the second is that it saves you money over annual renewals.

The premium prepayment option and savings are as follows:

  • If prepaid for 2 years, the premium is $225, a $25 savings;
  • If prepaid for 3 years, the premium is $325, a $50 savings.

Purpose of Your Surety Bond Requirement

According to the New Hampshire Real Estate Practice Act, Section 331-A:14, the purpose of your surety bond is that you will be able to provide an accounting for all funds received in connection with being a principal or managing real estate agent.
