Sewage Connection Licensing
In Suffolk County, New York, any contractor who wishes to engage in sewer connection must:
- Be a licensed plumber;
- Obtain a surety bond. The amount of the bond will be a minimum $5000 and a maximum $25,000 surety bond. This is as per city regulations, § 740-2, as amended.
The surety bond commences on January 1st and expires on December 31st.
Qualifying and the Premium
The Suffolk County sewer connection bond is offered by our agency for immediate issuance. This means that there is neither an underwriter review nor a credit check inquiry; and you are therefore automatically approved.
Full a full term, the premium is $125 for a $25,000 surety bond, which may or may not be prorated; and for all other bond amounts, the premium is $100 regardless of the date of the surety bond’s purchase.
Your surety bond will have a renewal date of December 31st.

Premium Prepayment Options
You also have the option to prepay your premium for up to 3 years for any bond amount you are required to purchase.
The premium prepayment option lengthens the time between renewals, while offering you a savings over annual renewals.
Regardless of the term of your bond chosen — 1, 2, or 3 years, the ending date will always be December 31st, and the renewal date January 1st.
