Rhode Island Blasting License

The Rhode Island Office of the State Fire Marshal requires licensees who wish to conduct blasting operations in the state to obtain a $50,000 surety bond as one of the prerequisites for licensing.

Meeting the surety bond requirement with our agency will take you just a matter of a few short minutes.

Qualifying and the Premium

The thing to know about the $50,000 Rhode Island blasting license bond is that you are automatically approved for this surety bond through our agency. There is neither a review by an underwriter nor a credit check inquiry.

Really, there’s no application as such. When you call us, we’ll ask you the most basic questions:

  • The name, exactly as it should appear on your surety bond;
  • Your contact information: address, email, and phone

After payment of your $500 premium, our agency issues this bond to you immediately. Your surety bond, along with the Power of Attorney form will be sent to you.

Upon receipt, you’ll file your surety bond as Principal and file it with your POA form to:

Premium Prepayment Options

At $500, your blasting license surety bond is active for one year from the date of issuance. Our agency also allows you to prepay your bond up to 3 years.

Prepayment of your premium saves you over annual renewals. The premium prepayment options and savings are as follows:

  • If prepaid for 2 years, the premium is $900, a $100 savings;
  • If prepaid for 3 years, the premium is $1300, a $200 savings.

Purpose of Your Surety Bond Requirement

Your surety bond is required as a financial guarantee of your compliance with Health & Safety, Title 23.28.28, and any future amendments or related laws.

The bond protects the state of Rhode Island from any failure to follow rules regarding the handling of explosives, as also the consequences of such failure.
