Employment Agencies – South Carolina

The licensing of employment agencies in South Carolina is handled by the Secretary of State office.

In addition to the new South Carolina employment agency application, application fees, licensing fees, and notification of intent to operate in a newspaper, you are required to obtain a $3,000 surety bond.

The surety bond takes only a few minutes. A surety bond is required of both new and renewal applicants.

Employment Agency Surety Bond – Qualifying and Premium

The $3,000 South Carolina employment agency bond will cost you just $100.

Qualifying couldn’t be easier.

After completion of a surety bond application and payment of the $100 premium, this surety bond is issued to you immediately. There is no business or personal inquiry nor is there an underwriting review for this bond.

Additionally, the application can be completed over the phone with the assistance of a surety agent.

Once the bond has been issued, a copy of the bond can be emailed to you for no additional charge. The original surety bond will follow in the mail by the same or the following business day. Ideally, you should always file the original surety bond with the Secretary of State.

Surety Bond Term; Premium Prepayment Options

A South Carolina employment agency surety bond is issued to you by our agency with a standard term of just one year. Thereafter, the bond must be renewed on an annual basis.

You also have the option to prepay this health club bond for 2 or 3 years. Prepayment offers a savings over year to renewal renewal of the surety bond and payment of the premium.

The premium breakdown is as follows:

  • If prepaid for 2 years, the premium is $180 (a $20 savings);
  • If prepaid for 3 years, the premium is $260 (a $40 savings).

Purpose of Your Surety Bond

The SC employment agency bond is a financial guarantee which protects the consumer against acts of fraud, misrepresentation, or any other unlawful acts committed by the owner of an employment agency or any employees, agents, or managers of such company.
