Private Investigators with the right to bear arms in Washington state must be at least 21 years old.
Unarmed Washington State private investigators must be at least 18 years old.
A Washington State investigative agency licensed by the department must also have a physical location within the state.
In addition, applicants must also provide background information which includes information about any administrative disciplinary action, or any pending or prior criminal charges, within the previous 10 years.
An armed agency with principal has an application fee of $700.
For unarmed agency, the fee is $600.
A partner is $300. An unarmed partner is $200.00
To be licensed as an investigative agency in Washington State, one of two things will be required.
Either, submit proof to the licensing body of,
A liability insurance policy of $25,000 bodily injury AND $25,000 property damage
OR,
Submit a Private investigative agency surety bond for $10,000.
Applicants are not required to purchase a liability insurance policy and a surety bond for investigative agencies within the state.
