Licensing of D.C. Home Improvement Contractors
D.C home improvement contractors are required to be licensed by the District’s Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs.
The Department offers a list of prerequisites for licensing. Among these requirements is the obligation to secure a $25,000 home improvement contractor bond.
Your home improvement bond is statutorily required to be for a 2-year term, which matches the term of your licensing.

You are automatically approved for the $25,000 Washington D.C. home improvement contractor bond. This automatic approval is because there is no credit check.
The premium is just $450 for your 2-year term.
