Wyoming Exempt Company Registration

The Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System provides a description under which a Wyoming registered mortgage company will qualify for an exempt registration.

The surety bond required of exempt companies is a $25,000 surety bond. Once purchased, our agency will electronically file it to NMLS on your behalf.

Qualifying and the Premium

You are automatically approved for the $25,000 Wyoming exempt company registration bond. This is because after completing a very short surety application over the phone with a Surety Agent, and paying the $188 premium, our agency issues this bond to you immediately.

There is no credit check.

Instead, when you call us, we’ll ask you the following:

  • The name, exactly as it should appear on your surety bond (this should match other filings you’ll be providing to NMLS);
  • Your contact information, which includes your address, email, and a business phone number. We’ll also ask for the name of a Principal of your company.

After paying the $188 premium, we’ll file your bond to NMLS, and therefore there are no documents to be delivered to you.

Premium Payment Options

The standard term for your exempt company bond is one year. The bond’s premium renews annually.

You have the option to prepay your premium up to 3 years, thereby offering you a savings over annual renewals.

The premium prepayment option and savings are as follows:

  • If prepaid for 2 years, the premium is $338, a $38 savings;
  • If prepaid for 3 years, the premium is $489, a $75 savings.

Purpose of Your Surety Bond Requirement

Your exempt company registration surety bond is a financial guarantee of your compliance with all Wyoming state laws required of exempt mortgage companies.
