Residential Contractor License – Alaska
Alaska residential contractors are regulated by the state’s Contraction Contractors Program. A condition of licensing is that you furnish a $20,000 surety bond.
Other contracting categories are similarly bonded. These include:
- General contractors – $25,000 surety bond;
- Mechanical/electrical contractors – $10,000 surety bond;
- Handyman contractors – $5000 surety bond.
Qualifying and the Premium

Premium Prepayment Options
The premium for the Alaska residential contractor bond renews annually for as long as the bond is required. Our agency also offers you the option to prepay your premium up to 3 years, thereby savings you over annual renewals.
The premium prepayment option and savings are as follows:
- If prepaid for 2 years, the premium is $1080, a $120 savings;
- If prepaid for 3 years, the premium is $1560, a $240 savings.
