California cargo shippers’ agents are licensed and regulated by the California Department of Insurance. An application, fingerprinting, are required; however, there is no qualifying exam.
Once issued, your license is issued for a 2-year term. You are also required to obtain a $10,000 surety
bond. The surety bond is referred to as a “Bond of Cargo Shippers’ Agent”.

When you call us, we’ll ask you for the name, exactly as it should appear on your bond. We’ll also need your business address, phone number, and email address.

Since your cargo shipper’s agent license is issued for a 2-year period, you also have the option to pay your bond for the term of you license.
A prepayment period of 2 years is $180, which is a $20 savings over annual renewals. Applicants who choose to prepay the bond for 3 years will pay $260, which is a $40 savings.
