Licensing of Traffic Violator Schools




California traffic violator schools (TVS) are licensed and regulated by the Department of Motor Vehicles, Occupational Licensing Division.

Traffic violator schools are required to furnish evidence of one of two surety bond amounts:

  • A $2,000 surety bond for schools which offer the traditional classroom setting;
  • Or, a $15,000 surety bond for schools which offer home-based studies.  This includes internet.




Qualifying and the Premium




You are approved for both the $2,000 or $15,000 California traffic violator school bond. Our agency offers this bond without a credit check.

The $2,000 surety bond amount has a premium of $100, annually; the $15,000 surety bond has a premium of $150.

When you call us, we’ll ask you for your business name and contact information, which includes your email address.

After paying the premium, your bond is issued to you immediately for filing. It is the original surety bond that you’ll sign as Principal and file with Occupational Licensing.

Premium Prepayment Options




The premium for both surety bonds renews annually on the anniversary of its issuance. You may prepay your premium up to 3 years, which offers you a savings over annual renewals.

The premium prepayment options and savings are as follows:

—$2,000 surety bond amount—

  • If prepaid for 2 years, $180 premium, a $20 savings;
  • If prepaid for 3 years, $260 premium, a $40 savings.

—$15,000 surety bond amount—

  • If prepaid for 2 years, $270 premium, a $30 savings;
  • If prepaid for 3 year, $390 premium, a $60 savings.




Purpose of Your Surety Bond Requirement




As stated within your bond’s wording, the purpose of this surety bond is for the benefit of your students against any fraudulent representation which causes them some monetary loss.

The bond is, furthermore, a guarantee of your compliance with all laws and regulations relating to your business, as amended.
