To perform excavation contracting work in Bristol Connecticut, besides being licensed as a P1, P7 or W-9 Contractor, you must also provide evidence of a $10,000 surety bond, along with the Power of Attorney (POA) form.
Obtaining the surety bond (the POA form comes with it) will undoubtedly be the quickest component of meeting Bristol’s qualifications.
The $10,000 Bristol excavator contractor bond is issued to you immediately upon completion of an application --- which we’ll take from you over the phone --- and payment of the premium, $180.
There is no underwriter review nor credit score inquiry for this surety bond.
After the application is completed, and the $180 premium paid, the bond is issued for you immediately. A copy of the bond and the POA can be sent to you by email.
The original surety bond, which you will also sign as Principal, will be sent by mail by the following business day at the latest. It is the original bond, along with the Power of Attorney, that you should ideally file with the city of Bristol.
The bond, along with your other paperwork, will be submitted to:
City of Bristol, Department of Public Works, Bristol, CT, 06010 between the hours of 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday.
AmeriPro Surety Bonds issues you the $10,000 Bristol excavator bond with a standard term of 2 years. Therefore, the bond will need to be renewed – should you wish to continue performing excavation work – every other year from the date of issuance.

The purpose of this bond is to hold the city of Bristol harmless for any work performed by a bonded excavator (or employees or subcontractors) which is substandard and results in harm or the potential to do so.
