The purpose of both the $10,000 surety bond for salespersons, and the $25,000 surety bond for brokers is the same.
The bond is to protect customers from any acts of fraud, theft, or criminal conduct committed by the licensee in the performance of their duties as salespersons or brokers.
The bond is purchased by you, but the bond is for the protection of others; the surety bond does not personally protect either a yacht and ship broker or salesperson at all.
The bond is also a prerequisite for the Florida yacht and ship broker license. The state will not issue a license without it.
Both the broker and salesperson Florida yacht and ship surety bond can be purchased on an annual basis, or prepaid for up to 2 years, thereby offering a savings over annual renewals.
