Notaries – Idaho
Idaho notaries are regulated by the Idaho Secretary of State office. As a condition of licensing, you are required to obtain a $10,000 surety bond.
Typically surety bond agencies attempt to compete based on something that distinguishes them from other agencies. To be blunt, for an Idaho notary bond, all the conditions for obtaining the bond are exactly the same (whether it’s our agency or if you choose another agency); you merely pick a surety company and you will be no worse for the ware.
We only offer notary surety bonds, however; we do not offer notary supplies.
Qualifying and the Premium
You are automatically approved for the $10,000 Idaho notary bond. The premium is just a onetime fee of $50 which lasts for the term of your commission, 6 years.
To obtain your Idaho notary bond, we’ll ask you the following:
- The name that should appear on your surety bond;
- Your address;
- An email and telephone number for you;
- The expiration date of your commission (it is important to get this date correct).
After payment of the premium of $50, our agency issues this bond to you immediately. Once issued, the bond is sent to you by the following business day. Upon receipt, you’ll sign the bond as Principal and file it with the Secretary at the following address:

Purpose of Your Notary Bond
The Idaho notary bond does not protect you as a licensed notary, but as noted under question 20 of the FAQ’s is for the benefit of the signer of the document.
