Probate Bond Amounts Greater Than $100,000
For a probate surety bond greater than $100,000 a credit check is required and applicants will need good credit in order to qualify. Depending on how large the bond is, in addition to a credit check, there may be a request for a financial statement. Items needed will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
The premium for your Kansas probate bond is not a onetime payment. For as long as your probate bond is active and required by the court, the premium renews annually on the anniversary of its issuance. Our agency also offers you the option to prepay your required bond up to 3 years, which offers you a savings over year to year renewal of your surety bond.
If you choose this option and your bond expires before the end of your premium period, we do not grant refunds or prorating of your bond’s premium.
Regardless of the type of probate surety bond category you require as a condition of being appointed as a guardian or trustee, you are acting in a fiduciary capacity. The purpose, therefore, of this bond is a financial guarantee that you will exercise your duties lawfully, disinterestedly, and in accordance with any directives of the court and Kansas state law.
