Surety Bond; Purpose
As a prerequisite to being licensed in Baltimore County as an auctioneer, the county requires you to submit evidence of financial responsibility in the form of a $5,000 surety bond.
The surety bond is a financial guarantee of your compliance with all rules involving auctioneers. More specifically, the bond guarantees that you will:
- Give an accounting for money entrusted to you;
- Pay and deliver any money or other goods given to you as required by Maryland law.
Qualifying and the Premium
Our agency automatically approves you for the $5,000 Baltimore County auctioneer bond. What this means for you is that there is no credit check, and the annual premium is $100.
When you call our agency, we’ll accept the application from you directly over the phone.
The application just consists of providing the name that should on appear on your auctioneer bond, along with you contact information. This latter includes your email address and phone number.
Upon payment of at least the $100 annual premium, our agency issues your bond to you for filing.
We will sign your bond as Surety; upon receipt by mail, you’ll sign your surety bond as Principal and have it witnessed (it does not need to be notarized).

- If prepaid for 3 years, the premium is $260, a $40 savings.
