Surety Bond Requirement and Amount; Purpose
Maryland resident and non-resident beer dealers must be licensed and registered with the state’s Comptroller Office.
A condition of licensing is that you obtain a $5,000 surety bond. The surety bond requirement serves as a guarantee for the Comptroller that you:
- will file all reports in a timely manner to the Comptroller office;
- that you will all pay all taxes, penalties, and interest owed in connection with your business activities;
- that you will be in compliance with all Maryland statutes governing your professional activities.
Qualifying and the Premium
The $5000 Maryland resident/non-resident beer dealer bond is issued to you immediately upon calling our agency and providing us with an application that we’ll accept by phone.
There is no underwriter or credit check, and the premium is $100, annually.
The information we’ll need just consists of providing our agency with the name as it should appear on your surety bond. We’ll also need your contact information, including an email address.
Upon payment of at least the first year’s premium, our agency issues your bond to you and mailing it along with a Power of Attorney form.
We will have signed your bond as Surety; upon receipt by mail, you’ll sign your bond as Principal.
