E-ZPass Surety Bond; Its Purpose
Commercial users of Massachusetts E-ZPass who wish to use it on a Post-Pay plan, are must obtain a surety bond of at least $5,000.
The Massachusetts Turnpike Authority has the right to increase the surety bond amount required of you.
The purpose of your surety bond is to serve as a financial guarantee of your payment of all fees connected with the use of highways, tunnels, bridges, parking areas, and other facilities which utilize E-Z Pass.
Qualifying and the Premium
While the minimum amount of the Massachusetts E-Z Pass toll payment bond is $5,000, our agency provides any amount the Turnpike Authority requires of you.
Up to a $10,000 surety bond requirement, we offer this bond to you without a credit check.
Massachusetts toll surety bond requirements greater than $10,000, in addition to the submission of a completed application, require review by an underwriter. This review includes a credit check. To be granted approval for these higher amounts, good credit is required.
Regardless of the amount required, approval of your toll payment bond requires a completed, signed, and witnessed surety bond application.
Upon approval of your bond and payment of the first year premium, our agency issues your bond to you along with a Power of Attorney form.
Our agency signs your bond as Surety; upon receipt by mail, you’ll sign it as Principal.

Term of Your E-ZPass Bond
Your turnpike toll bond is issued with a standard term of one year. Should you require a new bond amount within the term of your bond, we can provide that as well, issuing what is known as a “rider” to your current surety bond.
