Liquid industrial waste haulers in Michigan are regulated by the State of Michigan Department of Natural Resources. The department is the bond’s obligee.
The waste hauler bond is required in one of two amounts and AmeriPro Surety Bonds offers both for your compliance.
Liquid waste haulers who are residents of Michigan must file a $15,000 surety bond with the department; non-resident waste haulers must provide a $30,000 surety bond.
Candidates for the Michigan liquid industrial waste hauler bond will complete an application and be subject to a soft credit score check (this inquiry does not affect your credit score).
The cost of the bond is typically between about 1% to several percentages annually; however, the amount that you will pay for the bond may vary somewhat subject to what is learned on your application.
Once issued the bond is active for one year and thereafter must be renewed. Resident and non-resident liquid industrial waste haulers must keep an active surety bond on file as a condition for licensing.
The purpose of the Michigan liquid industrial waste haulers bond is a financial guarantee which ensures your compliance with the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act, Act 454 of 1994.
Specifically according to the law, this bond is required to recompense the Department should the department have to cover the cost of closing, treating, and or storing waste should your business terminate or have reached its capacity.
The same statute states that the bond will be in an amount to cover the post-closure costs of maintaining and overseeing the facility. (Sections 324.11141 and 324.11143).
