Surety Bond; Purpose




The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (aka EGLE) requires landfill business which deal with solid waste disposal to show evidence of financial responsibility.

The surety bond requirement is $20,000 per acre of landfill, with a maximum amount of $1,000,000. This requirement is of Type III and Type II landfills.

The surety bond serves as a financial guarantee of all rules concerning the operating and maintenance of a waste landfill, as may be amended. More specifically, the surety bond is a financial pledge of Part 115, Michigan Solid Waste Management, as may be amended.




Qualifying and the Premium




Our agency offers you the Michigan solid waste disposal landfill bond in the amount statutorily required of you.

For those business which require a surety bond up to $100,000, inclusive, we also provide this bond without a credit inquiry.

Amounts greater than $100,000, require a signed, witnessed, and completed application. Additionally, there is an underwriter review of your application. This review includes a credit check inquiry.

Approval for a surety bond requirement greater than $100,000 from our agency requires good credit.

Upon approval of your surety bond and payment of the premium, our agency issues your bond to you for filing.

We will sign your original surety bond as Surety. In the mail, you’ll receive a surety bond and Power of Attorney form. You’ll sign your bond as Principal, filing all documents received to:
