Surety Bond; Purpose
Agents of Mississippi proprietary schools and colleges require a $10,000 surety bond as a condition of licensing. This surety bond requirement is for both initial and renewal applicants.
The purpose of your surety bond requirement is to serve as a financial guarantee of your compliance with Title 75, Chapter 60 of the Mississippi Code of 1972, as amended.
The bond is also for the benefit of those who are harmed by acts of malfeasance committed by a licensed and bonded agent.
Qualifying and the Premium
To qualify and be approved for the $10,000 Mississippi proprietary school agent bond, you will need to complete a short surety bond application, which includes having it witnessed, and then signed by you.
We can begin the application with you by phone, but you will need to print out, complete and sign, scan, and email the application back to us.
Your completed application is reviewed by an underwriter. This review process includes a credit check.
Good credit is required for approval.
Your proprietary school agent bond, upon approval, is issued for $100 annually.
Our agency issues your bond and a Power of Attorney form to you immediately upon receipt of payment by phone. We will then mail the bond to you for signing and filing (we will have signed your bond as Surety).

Premium Prepayment Options
As issued, your school agent bond renews annually upon the anniversary of its issuance. You may choose to prepay your bond’s premium for 2 or 3 years, which offers you a savings over annual renewals.
The premium prepayment option and savings are as follows:
- If prepaid for 2 years, the premium is $180, a $20 savings;
- If prepaid for 3 years, the premium is $260, a $40 savings.
