There are two separate surety bond amounts for Montana process servers:
Our agency offers both of these surety bonds for your compliance. The Board of Private Security, a division of the Montana Department of Labor & Industry, requires these surety bonds as a condition of licensing.
Whenever possible, our agency always attempts to provide lower surety bond amounts without a credit check; it makes for quicker processing, and everyone is approved, which is always nice.
However, while a credit inquiry would be expected for just about any $100,000 surety bond, in this case it is also required for even the $10,000 Montana process server bond amount.
For both amounts, an application can be accepted from you over the phone. To be approved through our agency, good credit will be required.
For both surety bonds, we’ll ask you, over the phone, the following:
Approval is predicated on good credit, and the amounts are 1%; that is, $100 for the $10,000 surety bond and $1000 for the $100,000 surety bond required of process serving companies.
Upon payment of your premium, your process server bond is issued to you immediately.
Your surety bond is required in accordance with 24-182-405 of Montana’s legislative statutes, and is a financial guarantee --- for the benefit of the state of Montana – that an individual process server or a process server business will be in compliance with all rules and regulations governing process serving, as amended.
