Surety Bond; Purpose
The Nevada certificate of title bond is also known as a Nevada vehicle bond affidavit or a Nevada defective title bond.
The bond is required when ownership of the vehicle that you’re attempting to register is either unclear or unknown.
Likely, you have already visited the Nevada DMV and have been told that you require a surety bond in order to register your vehicle. You may also have received correspondence from the Department to this effect.
The Nevada vehicle bond affidavit protects any prior owners, unknown lien holders, or any subsequent owners of your vehicle from any loss which they may suffer should new and unknown information concerning your vehicle’s ownership later come to bear.
According to the Nevada DMV website on bonded titles, you are not to purchase a surety bond until you have received authorization from the Department to do so. This authorization will also provide you with the amount of surety bond required.
Qualifying and the Premium
Our agency provides you with the Nevada certificate of title bond in the amount required. Up to a $50,000 surety bond requirement, we also do so without a credit check.
If applicable to you, an amount greater than $50,000 will require an application, and a review by an underwriter. There is also a credit check inquiry. Approval for these higher amounts will be 1% of the bond amount required. Approval is granted on the basis of good credit for these higher amounts.
For all others ($50,000 and less), the approval amount for your bond is $150 or 1%, whichever amount is greater.
