Licensing; Surety Bond Purpose
Waste disposal and management companies in Islip, New York, are required to obtain a surety bond as a condition of licensing.
The purpose of this surety bond requirement is to serve as a prerequisite for your business to obtain a monthly billing account with the city; and that, moreover, you will pay any and all fees assessed in connection with the use of city facilities for waste disposal and management.
The amount of the surety bond required will be determined by Islip. The surety bond amount will have an expiration date of December 31st of the year in which it is issued.
Qualifying and the Premium
The process to obtain your Islip waste disposal surety bond includes completion of an application — which we’ll begin with you over the phone — but which you’ll need to complete and sign.
Thereafter, there is a review by a surety underwriter which includes a credit check inquiry.
To be approved, our agency requires applicants to have good credit.
Approval is offered at 1% of the surety bond amount required for a full term, with a $100 minimum premium. The premium may also be prorated depending on the time of the year of its purchase.
Once your application is approved and the premium is paid, our agency issues your bond to you immediately.
It is the original surety bond that you’ll file with the city of Islip. Included with your surety bond (which we’ll have notarized as Surety and which you’ll have notarized as Principal) are the following:
- A Power of Attorney form;
- A financial statement from the Surety.
