The Oklahoma Insurance Department (OID) regulates and approves the licensing of those businesses which offer prepaid funeral services in the state. Businesses which offer prepaid funeral services must establish a trust account which is established according to standards acceptable to the OID.
According to current regulations, prepaid funeral services businesses are also required to obtain a surety bond as a prerequisite for licensing. The amount of the surety bond required is 15% of the amount of the trust on file with the OID.
Qualifying for the Oklahoma prepaid funeral services bond is by completion of a standard surety bond application and an accompanying review by an underwriter, along with a credit score inquiry.
