Fundraisers and charitable organizations which solicit funds in Pennsylvania are regulated by the Commonwealth’s Solicitation of Funds for Charitable Purposes Act.
As of this writing, the most recent revision of the Act occurred in February 2018
To be able to legally solicit funds in Pennsylvania, you are required to maintain a surety bond of at least $25,000.
The state will let you know the surety bond amount required should it be higher; and AmeriPro Surety Bonds will help you get the surety bond that you require --- no matter the amount --- filed in a timely manner.
You are automatically approved for the $25,000 Pennsylvania professional fundraiser surety bond. The premium costs you just $250 annually, and there is no credit check. When you call us, we'll just ask you the following:
After payment of the premium, our agency issues this bond to you immediately. Upon receipt in the mail (which will include a Power of Attorney form), you'll sign your bond as Principal before filing it with:
COMMONWEALTH OF PA DEPT. OF ST BU. OF CHARITABLE ORG.

***Premium Prepayment Options***
At $250 premium, your surety bond is active for one year from the date of issuance. Our agency also offers you the ability to prepay your bond up to 3 years, which offers a savings over annual renewals.
The premium prepayment option and savings are as follows:
The purpose of the Pennsylvania fundraiser bond, made payable to the Commonwealth, is to protect the public --- or donors – and the Commonwealth from any acts of fraud, theft, or criminal misconduct committed by a licensed professional fundraiser in the course of their charitable duties.
The surety bond’s protections afforded extend also to wrongful acts committed by owners, managers, and employees of a professional fundraiser or charitable entity.
The bond’s existence allows those who can demonstrate financial harm to file a claim against the surety bond in an effort to recoup any financial losses. The total amount from all claim sources can be no more than the bond’s $25,000 amount.
As the principal, you are obliged to reimburse the surety for all costs paid, should that ever be applicable.
