Health clubs in Rhode Island are licensed and regulated by the state’s Attorney General office. The state provides a list of registered health clubs. You are required to obtain a surety bond that is in accordance with the number of square feet of your health club facility.

Qualifying for the Rhode Island health club bond is by completion of a short surety bond application – which we’ll being with you over the phone --- but which will also require your signature and that of a witness. We’ll also ask you the type of license or permit for which you are applying.
Thereafter, your application is reviewed by an underwriter. The review includes a business or personal credit inquiry.
Approval is based on good credit, and the rate is just 1% of the amount surety bond required.
Upon payment of the premium, our agency issues this bond to you immediately. Your bond, along with a Power of Attorney form and other related documents will be sent to you.

The Rhode Island health club bond, as issued, is active for one year. Thereafter, your premium renews. The option also exists to prepay your bond, of whatever amount, for 3 years.
Prepayment of the premium allows you a savings versus renewing annually. The premium prepayment option and savings are as follows:
