Cigarette wholesaler companies are licensed by the Wyoming Department of Revenue. As a wholesaler, you are require to print stamps or impressions of any cigarette package held in the state.
A prerequisite for licensing is that you obtain the appropriate surety bond amount.
The Wyoming cigarette wholesale bond is a $10,000 surety bond required by the Department of Revenue. The $10,000 amount represents the minimum the amount. Please be advised that the Department has the right to request a greater surety bond amount from you.
Qualifying for your cigarette wholesaler bond is by completing a short surety bond application and undergoing a credit check review.
Our agency will begin much of the application with you over the phone; however, you’ll need to sign the application before an underwriter will formally begin the review process.
Approval is based on good credit, and the approval rate is 2%, annually of the amount required.
Once your bond is approved and the premium is paid, our agency issues you your bond, and a Power of Attorney form.
Upon receipt by mail, you’ll sign your bond as Principal and then file it to the following address:
Wyoming Department of Revenue
122 West 25th Street
Cheyenne, WY 82002-0110
Your WY cigarette wholesaler bond renews annually. If you are sure that the amount of your bond will be the same upon renewal, you may choose to prepay your premium up to 3 years.
Premium prepayment lengthens the time between premium renewals, and it saves you money over renewing each year.
The purpose of your surety bond requirement is to ensure you compliance with Wyoming 39-18-102, as amended.
This statute states that you will pay all taxes as owed; and that evidence of payment of the tax will be having stamps or some impression on each package of the cigarette you sale as a wholesale dealer.
The bond is therefore a financial guarantee for the state of Wyoming.
