Wyoming Mortgage Broker License

The Wyoming Division of Banking is the licensing authority for Wyoming mortgage brokers.

Your license and surety bond are filed through NMLS, the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System. Our agency can electronically file your bond to NMLS on your behalf after its purchase.

The surety bond amount required of Wyoming mortgage brokers is as follows:

  • A $25,000 surety bond, plus $10,000 for each additional location.

Qualifying and the Premium

Applicants for the Wyoming mortgage broker bond up to and including a $45,000 surety bond amount, will qualify without a credit check inquiry.

A $25,000 surety bond amount will have an annual $188 premium; a $45,000 surety bond amount will have a $338 annual premium.

When you call us, we’ll ask you the name, exactly as it should appear on your surety bond. We’ll also need your address, email and phone number. After payment of the premium, the bond is either issued to you, or electronically filed on your behalf; however you choose.

For amounts $55,000 and greater, to qualify, you’ll need to complete and sign a surety bond application. As part of the underwriting process, a credit inquiry is required. Good credit is required for approval.

Upon approval and payment of the premium, the bond is issued and filed on your behalf, if you choose.

Premium Prepayment Options

The premium associated with your Wyoming mortgage broker bond renews annually.

For any surety bond amount required, the premium associated with your bond may be prepaid for 2 or 3 years, which offers you a savings over annual renewals.

This option works best for those Wyoming mortgage brokers who will not be either increasing or decreasing the number of business locations within the term of the surety bond.

Purpose Of Your Surety Bond

Your mortgage broker surety bond serves as a financial guarantee of your compliance with the Wyoming Residential Mortgage Practices Act, as amended.
